“I would like to up grade the optical drive . Better quality more functions. Can you suggest one that will provide above average average music ripping. I have a great deal of old music I wish put on a MP3 .”

We don't usually recommend upgrading the built-in DVD drive, but if you wish to do so then any brand will work as long as it's the same size. You can also use any external DVD writer drive with the specs you want.
