Is this a good computer for college work? null

Absolutely! It is very lightweight, and fast. I love the touch screen, and wish my laptop back in college was like this one!

Great for college. That's why I bought it. I go back and forth between Ubuntu and Windows a lot. I have tons of music on it. It's a little bigger than I wanted for transporting but I got used to it.

Yes, I think it is. My needs are simple. But, Microsoft Office offers so many diversified options. I wonder if the software is something you can look into before you invest in a computer. The touch screen and keyboard are handy. I was so used to using an iPad the first time I used my son's Apple laptop, I was automatically touching the screen. Funny. Also, Microsoft office offers a program to take notes! Word is so much more sophisticated than what I was using at my job and home. I better tell you before going any further that when I was in college I used a typewriter with a ribbon and carbon paper. Not an electric typewriter. That's Ok, they laugh at my flip phone but I remember the excitement at our house when we got our first DIAL Phone. My Dumb phone exceeds my expectations. I even text on it with no keyboard, Yes, I think you will love doing your homework (or whatever) on this laptop. Best of luck to you (or the child or grandchild you may be shopping for:)

My sons in his third year of engineet program and handles everything he needs

I am currently taking 24 credits worth of online courses and it is excellent. If you are going to physical classes, this may be a little bulky and heavy for you to carry. It fits into my backpack well for transportation though.

Yes, that's one question I can definitely answer. One piece of advice, check with your school and be sure what browser they recommend using. The default is Microsoft Edge. You will have to download Chrome if you want it.
