• It is possible that it simply appears brighter because it is new. If you have an older laptop and the screen is dirty or dim, this will be brighter. That said, the f2 and f3 buttons should make the screen dimmer or brighter. I keep mine around 3/4 of the way and it works great

• Thank you for the question. The HP 15-dy4013dx has a Brightview display of 220 nits. You can adjust the brightness using the keyboard shortcut keys or settings>display.
