Ignore the HP and Best Buy reps. I bought three of these exact models and can confirm you absolutely can upgrade the RAM and NVME drive. It has two DDR4 slots and you can pop in another 8GB or put two 16GB dimms. In addition to the NVME, it also has a spot for a 2.5" drive and the mother has the interface. You just need to order an HP SSD ribbon cable and drive caddy (or double sided tape it). Nothing is soldered in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased this laptop in October 2024 and I was able to upgrade without any problem. It has 1-8gb dimm and 1 open slot. I added a 16gb dimm for a total of 24gb. The ssd is also a standard m.2 slot that could be upgraded.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just removed the 8GB DRAM module from its socket (no, it is NOT soldered in!) and installed DDR4-3200 modules in the two sockets. With 48GB of DRAM (16GB + 32GB), this system FLIES! The system processor can handle up to 64GB of DRAM. The memory modules can be either single rank or dual rank, they both work fine. Both of the DRAM modules I installed are dual-rank, CL22.

The laptop also has an NVMe SSD slot, which you can upgrade with a larger capacity drive. Elaboration: RAM: The laptop has two DDR4 RAM slots, one potentially occupied by a 8GB stick, according to Best Buy. You can either replace the existing 8GB stick with a larger one or add a new stick to the empty slot to increase the total RAM capacity, says Best Buy. SSD: The laptop uses an NVMe M.2 SSD, which you can replace with a new one of your choice. You can also add a 2.5" drive, but it may require purchasing a caddy and ribbon cable, according to Best Buy. Other Upgrades: . Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just purchased(8-9-25) 3 of this exact model from another retailer for my children to use at school and upgraded RAM in each of them. There are two SODIMM4 slots and it can support up to 64GB total of RAM. they came with an 8GB ddr4 3200 SODIMM card in one slot and the other is open. If you put mismatched ram in be sure to put the larger one in the first slot, it's marked on the motherboard "one DIMM only" if I remember correctly and is on the side closest to the outside edge of the laptop. There is also easy access, as someone else stated, for other upgrades to the SSD and 2.5" drive to be added.
