    • Answer Ignore the HP and Best Buy reps. I bought three of these exact models and can confirm you absolutely can upgrade the RAM and NVME drive. It has two DDR4 slots and you can pop in another 8GB or put two 16GB dimms. In addition to the NVME, it also has a spot for a 2.5" drive and the mother has the interface. You just need to order an HP SSD ribbon cable and drive caddy (or double sided tape it). Nothing is soldered in.

    • Answer The HP 17-cp3005dx laptop can be switched out of Window 11 Home in S Mode to Windows 11 Home. Please search for "Switch out of S mode" in the Microsoft Store for more information. Please contact HP Support if you need further assistance. You cannot switch back to S Mode.

    • Answer The HP reply is a bit incomplete. Generally speaking, laptops are set up, by default, to go into sleep mode when the lid is closed. This can be changed by opening Control Panel, then Power Settings, and finally "Change what closing the lid does." This is also where the result of pressing the Power or Sleep button can be selected. Depending on which action you are altering, your choices are "Do Nothing," "Sleep," Hibernate," "Shut Down," or "Turn off the display." Once you have made the changes to your liking, they are kept in memory until you change them again (or, sometimes, until you make a major update, such as updating to Windows 12).
