Hello. Thanks for your question. This HP laptop has the 11th generation Intel i3 processor.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Don't know what "Goodguy's" story is. He "wouldn't recommend" a bunch of things, but he didn't volunteer to give you the money for the difference between this laptop and one with more power, and apparently the idead of lights on in a room is one that is foreign to him. The "generation" of the chip is only one bit of information. Decide what you want to do with the machine, then find out what you need to do it with, THEN decide whether this is the device for you. Don't let snobbish know-it-alls shame you into buying what you don't need. For basic stuff like internet browsing, listening to music or watching a movie, creating or editing documents in Office, email, etc., this is fine. It's only if you want to get into more advanced tasks like heavy editing of photos, music, or videos that you really have to worry about the specs on a PC, and even then, if you are not multitasking, you may be good for some of that. Personally, I always feel that you should buy at least something that is at least a little better than the minimum you see yourself needing. This is because likely, in short time, you will find more activities you will be interested in, and then you will appreciate the extra power available.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As others said it is 11th gen. This gen has 2 or 4 cores per Intel's site but it is not clear which model this laptop uses. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/details/processors/core/i3.html
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No i3 came out in 2010 it is a basic processor I wouldn't recommend getting an i3 go with i5 or i7 better processor and the i3 is only a dual core processor not a quad core processor and no Backlit keyboard. I would recommend either lenovo or Dell or Samsung are better options. So if you plan on using at night your gonna have have too keep the lights on in your room
