Not sure if we are being told mis-information but I just called and spoke to a geek squad guy and he pulled this up and said you most definitely can upgrade the memory on this computer. He said there are only a few models that can not and this is not one of them. I was told you can easily upgrade.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It can be upgraded to 8GB. The reason for the confusion is that the process is documented in the "User and Service Guide" on page 49 under "Chapter 6 Removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider parts". http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05122688 " Before removing a memory module, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by ƭrst unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 34). 5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 35). 6. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 41). To remove a memory module: 1. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module. (The memory module tilts up.) Component replacement procedures 49 2. Remove the memory module (2) by pulling it away from the slot at an angle. Reverse this procedure to install a memory module. "
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I looked up the reference Douglas provided: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05122688. On page 6 (since this is based on the 7th generation i5) of the manual it says the system can take a maximum of 16GB of DDR4 2133Mhz memory (using two 8GB modules, which means you would have to remove the 4Gb it came with). Otherwise his information is spot on. The system is not on crucial.com's database, so I will have to use their scanning tool to find the right memory that can be installed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Looks like the answer is "no". The Data Sheet from HP says, page 2, under Specifications, Accessible Memory Slots: "Memory slot not user accessible". Source: http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c05332244.pdf
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the memory is not upgradeable. The maximum memory is 4 GB.
