“specs say win 10 home is installed. I assume there is some sort of product key for win 10 home so that it can be re-installed if necessary - true? also, does win 10 home have an expiration date? ( I only am familiar with win 7)”

That's so true and you have to be very very specific with the Geek Squad in writing as to what you want installed and uninstalled programs and files. From experience I paid the $211 to have the Geek Squad they didn't transfer my programs from one computer to the new computer all they send over with a files I couldn't open the files without the program itself. So basically I was dead in the water with any of the business work I had to do.
