A: YES!!! It does have Windows 10 in S mode! I hated it! It would only run a very limited number of Microsoft approved programs... the good news is, it is easy to disable!

The alternative is to backup your data, install the new SSD and then install the OS, your software, and data on it. There are a number of software drivers needed that make this route harder for a laptop than for a desktop.
