• A:Answer Hi Jodi! The HP 8S0F1UA powers and charges using the HP Smart Pin, so a dock won't work. You can, however, add a hub via USB. You can connect an external monitor via the HDMI port.

Q: QuestionCan this laptop be connected to an external monitor using while using a Hp G-5 dock? Will the laptop still be able to operate with the lid closed while using the docking station?

• A:Answer Thank you for the question. You can connect the G5 dock to the HP17-cn2123nr however there will b limited functionality. This laptop has a USB-C port, but it does not support Thunderbolt or USB-C Display Alt Mode. This means it cannot output video or fully communicate with a Thunderbolt docking station. Yes, you can use an external monitor with your HP 17-cn2123nr laptop even when the laptop lid is closed. To do this, you'll need to adjust your power settings in Windows.
