Instead of Windows 10, Chromebooks run Google's Chrome OS--which is significantly less demanding of computer resources, as it is driven entirely by Google Play Store apps and online applications. This is why they often have little storage, and are so affordable--they don't need the same hefty configuration of a comparable Windows device. If most of your work is done online, and you're comfortable saving documents to the cloud, a Chromebook would be ideal and an economically sound option.
