John, thank you for your question about this. This desktop does not have the processor or the memory required to do the multitasking for regular school work. Some things to look for in a computer for regular school work is an i3 or i5 or equivalent processor for the cores and speeds, at least 8GB of memory for multitasking, and 256 to 512GB of storage for your projects. Common uses for school work would have 4-5 browser tabs open along with Word and possibly PowerPoint along with an audio app running in the background.
