You will need an adapter for the display's HDMI cord to go into either type of port. I bought a USB-C piece with multiple adapters on it (HDMI, USB-A, etc) and it's incredibly handy. Frees up the rest of the ports on my computer to be used for other things.

To use this monitor with your laptop, you would need a dock and make sure that your laptop's USB-C ports support DisplayPort and the dock has an HDMI out port. If your laptop has an HDMI port on it, then you can connect this monitor to your laptop through an HDMI cable.
