yes this model is the newer model that you asked about .This model is brand new made this Oct,and the other model was made in Jan of this year,and yes the inside guts are the exact same.and yes the only difference is the stand,and front grey vs black.i called and asked HP corp office about the two.but the $499 you can't beat it..i purchased one..very happy.
