“I am installing security cameras and need a monitor. My question is, is there a way for me to connect a thumb drive to this monitor and record a time span. Such as being able to give the police the thumb drive with a copy of illegal activity.”

There is no way to connect a flash drive to the monitor. The flash drive would need to be plugged into the system you are using for surveillance.
