• You need a display port cable to run 144 MHz.

• This is how to change to 144 Hz: Go to your Windows display settings, hit the Advanced Display settings button at the bottom of the page. Under the monitor listing, hit Display adapter properties for display #. In the pop up hit the monitor tab, and change the drop down menu to 144 Hz. There is no mention of optimal mode in the manual. If you need more assistance, I would recommend reaching out to HP Support.
