Thank you for your question! I am sorry that you are not experiencing the advertised refresh rate, but there are two ways to make sure you get the most out of your monitor. First, use an HDMI cable that is version 1.4a or later as they support up to 1080p resolution at 120 Hz. Also, check your graphics settings so the chipset is running at least a 100 Hz refresh rate to use this display to the fullest. Some graphics chipsets top out at 60 Hz.
