“Can I use just black ink only and buy that and not use the HP564 colored ink for my HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-one series-C309 printer to save money. Just don't want to pay the full $75.00 all replacement carriages when this printer just eats ink.”

Unfortunately not - I have tried, you need to buy both black ink cartridges- bummers
