The HP 564 Ink Cartridge prints about 300 pages and the HP 564XL prints about 750.

The older 3x XL printed about 750 pages. HP has resized the XL cartridge to only 2x or 550 pages. This 2x is what is currently offered at HP. You may be lucky and find an old 3x here. The photo on the site is of a 3x cartridge. The standard black cartidge is listed for only 250 pages.

I am not sure how much more ink the XL has but it definitely last longer! I usually print most items in fast/draft mode and save on ink that way as well.

Almost 2x the ink. For instance the 564 black is rated at 250 pages and the 564XL black is rated at 550 pages. Results will vary depending on what you are printing but the page rating ratio is about the same.

The Geek Squad at my BB says they have 2.5 as opposed to 1 of the amount of ink in each one.

I feel like it is twice as much and the simple fact that you don't have to keep changing cartridges as often is a value too. The XL is the only size I ever use in my HP printer.

I've never measured, but seems to last much longer than regular cartridges.
