• All HP 564 series cartridges are compatible with the HP Photosmart Plus printer. You install both a black and a photo black cartridge at the same time. These go into different slots on your printer. You have both standard quantity and high quantity options for both your black and your photo black cartridges. High quantity cartridges are labeled HP 564 XL. The HP 564XL Photo Black is a high-capacity photo black cartridge.

• The 564XL black ink lasts soooo much longer than the 564, but it cost more too. The Photosmart uses two black ink cartridges. So I presume they are talking about the second black cartridge cannot be a 564XL as it is a specific cartridge.
