• The only difference is that the XL lasts about twice as long. If you print a lot it is the better value.

• No. The HP Officejet 5255 printer uses the HP 63 or 63XL black and tricolor ink cartridges. The XL ink cartridges are high yield, which can yield up to 2 times more page yield than the regular ink cartridges.
