via google search, The standard size HP 62 ink cartridges can produce up to 190 pages of quality black text, as for the HP 62 tricolor cartridges, the standard HP62 cartridge can print up to 165 color pages. The HP62 XL cartridge yields around 600 pages in black and an impressive 450 sheets color. ** given all the less helpful answers....**
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The 62XL HIGH YIELD obviously contains more ink than than the 62, it's in the name. What's the point in saying it? Does anyone know how much more? Is it double, or just another HP marketing hype? For very occasional printing, I'd suspect there is a danger of the printhead drying up before the XL types are empty.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.According to HP the 62XL high yield cartridge prints about 3 times as much as the 62. The ratio is the same regardless if whether it's the black or tricolor cartridge. I personally use the 62XL and they last more than double, but not quite 3X longer than the 62. The XL cartridges have a bigger sponge inside of them which obviously holds more ink. I also buy the cartridges remanufactured which has always served me well, just know who you're buying them from. Some crooks will put a 62XL sticker on a regular 62. If you ever get curious as I have, when you open the cartridge and look inside, the sponges on a 62XL should take up the entire inner compartment(s) of the cartridge depending on whether its black or tricolor. Where can the extra ink be stored? If more copies can be made with the 62XL then it has to something else that needs explaining I would think.

So I was looking for 2 black inks in a package of xl. Found hp62 standard. Researched it prints 190 pages for $ 21. Or xl that it list will copy up to 600 pages, but most users say only peunts 2x's not 3 times as many but costs $59. So, i am going to buy 2 standards for $42. And see how it goes.
