I think so. If I remember correctly, there is a way to print "only black." You could probably find out for sure by googling how to print in black only on a ***** printer. You may have to adjust the settings for the computer to print in only black.

No. You will need to replace the empty cartridges for it to create a printed image. If you have only a good black cartridge, you can choose to print Black Only and it will work.

It should still print in black. However it won't print color items they will be streaks on the page.
