• Yes it will. There is a button to choose if you want color or black copies.

• You can specify in "printer preferences" to only print in "grayscale" or black and white. It will print if only the black ink cartridge is installed. I would not even install the color cartridge if you do not plan on using it, since it will eventually clog up or dry out if not used for an extended period of time. Keep any unused and uninstalled cartridges in the original sealed packaging and refrigerate (do not freeze) to extended the expiration time on them. Hope that helps.
