“What I really want is the scanner function, and will not use the print function. Will this printer fail to scan if the cartridge date has expired? Will the scan function work five years from now if I don't replace the initial print cartridge?”

• If there is not ink, the printer may not scan.

• It will scan even if carts are empty.
