Hello Hazel! You can use the scan bed for scanning! You have the option to use the HP Smart APP and your phone's camera to scan or the HP Smart APP on your phone or computer to scan with the scan window. When you're ready to scan, lay the document or photo face down and align it with the corner of the glass. While using the printer software on your computer select SCAN and click SCAN A DOCUMENT OR PHOTO. Under SCAN SHORTCUTS select the type of scan you want and then click the SCAN button on the bottom. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You should be able to just tap scan as long as it's set to your default. Hp app is pretty aggressive though. Might as well hang an ink advertisement poster above your desk.
