• The hp app has that ability without the actual printer, just take a photo with the app and save as pdf. I find that function very useful

• Hello. Thanks for your question. The only way you can scan to a USB flash drive is when the USB flash drive is connected to a USB port on the computer. This HP Deskjet 2755e printer does not have a front USB host port for a USB flash drive. The printer may not scan if there is no ink in the printer.
