“My original question was how to scan from my HP Deskjet 2755e to my Asus laptop. You answered download HP Smart App and hit scan. When I do that a window comes up that the printer is not connected but I know that it is connected. What now?”

• Might try checking connection on your laptop... and maybe reconnect.
