Thank you for your question on this HP EliteBook laptop! Yes, it will do regular academic work such as internet browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Will the college student do anything beyond those? Additionally, the storage may be inadequate if they are looking to hold a large amount of data. Best Buy carries HP computer models that have 1TB or more of storage. Be sure to talk with the college student for their field of study and what software they are using beyond Microsoft Office.
