For any software you want to use, you will want to go to the publisher's site and make sure that the unit you are looking at meets at least the system requirements. Updates can change the requirements which can impact what settings you can use or if you can run the software at all. It would mainly depend on the type of coding you would be doing, and you would want something with a dedicated GPU if you were doing any type of coding that requires 3D rendering.

You will want something with a bigger hard drive and more memory if you are using any sort of compiler. or if you are needing to install and sot of SQL or developer software, I would recommend the next level up envy. I both this system primary to RDP to my work computer or access me email online. i think that it what it is best suited for.
