“How good is this for school and how good is the battery? I'm going into my junior year and I don't want this to break down half way through the year, start running slow or die halfway throughout the eight hour school day.”

It's very fast, and you can have a million tabs open at once so that's good. Battery life isn't great, I don't use the laptop much and it needs to be charged quite often anyway. I don't foresee it running slow anytime soon but expect to use your charger at least once throughout the 8 hr school day. Charges pretty quickly though so that's good.

A charge lasts almost a day, sometimes more depending on sleep time as I turn to other tasks at work Running software like Photoshop and InDesign (as well as the usual business suite software), I haven't had any speed issues at all. I don't suppose it's much of a gaming unit, but for normal business/academic uses, I think it would be fine.
