I've now tried it out for a couple of weeks and it works great (Win 10 on desktop and laptop). The photo tray is not adjustable and only holds 4 x 6" paper. I've used it (printing from a file on computer), and the print quality was not great, but I save most pics with low megapixels The paper tray (8.5 x 11"), prints photos or documents of any width up to 8.5", including envelopes, and using varying size stock - the sliding side guides are adjustable. The front of the paper tray will fold down, so longer sheets will fit (8 x 14"); however for copying or scanning, the glass document viewer is only about 8 x 12". You could print a 14" document from a file. Note there is no document feeder for scanning, copying multiple pages. The HP Envy 7640 has the document feeder and is virtually the same machine for an added $50. The HP Printer Assistant allows scanning features in addition to the "Touch Screen" for example to scan multiple pages into one document (PDF or JPEG). The enclosed paper tray is dust free and the printer has a streamlined appearance. However, the strange little paper holder that "pops out" when printing is flimsy, exposed, and possibly easily damaged. Also, it's something to malfunction compared to a simple slide out tray to hold the printed sheets.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NOTE!!! This does not come with a cable to commect "wired" to your computer. It also does not have USB port, but the "AB cable" port, such as on other HP printers. My existing one has that cable, so hopefully it will work. Note also, some comments that it scans faster using the cable rather than wireless.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know what you are referring to with 5" maximum? It takes Letter, Legal, 4x6 photo paper, and A4 envelopes. Both trays are in front.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This printer will accept standard letter size paper. There is no input tray; you flip the top up and lay the paper on the glass surface. The output tray loads and ejects in the front.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was able to print a 8.5 X 11 document. Both trays are in front.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. What Jeannie CORRECTLY is referring to is that in the "Specifications" it states the Maximum Document Width is 5" I didn't ask HP or Best Buy, but I looked at this printer at Best Buy and say that it has 8.5 x 11" paper in the tray so, that must be a typo on their web page. In fact if you look at the 6550 it is 8.5 x 11. Just sayin' Also, I saw that there is a double tray that holds both 8.5 x 11 and 4 x 6 stock for color prints. There is a funny little tab that flips out when you start a copy, so the little tab then will hold up the sheet. Looks like something to malfunction!! Just need a manual pull out tab like Cannon, etc. Also, I chatted with HP on their site and the 6550 and 6553 are identical, 6553 is number for retailers like Best Buy.
