It will automatically power down after a period of time.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes “Auto-off” does that by default (set at 2 hours). I you don’t want that, you can’t change it. So after two hours of inactivity, it powers down and only the “power” switch will turn it on. NOTE: Auto-off is disabled while the printer is connected to wi-fi. I assume that means if the printer is connected to wi-fi 24/7 that it never shuts down??? Try that yourself (I didn’t). To find auto on-off, open the HP Printer Assistant. Click on Maintenance > advanced tab. The popup states that Auto ON-OFF is enabled @ every 2 hours. It can’t be changed or disabled. You can send an email to the printer while it’s turned off; but the printer won’t respond or print until it is turned on. In fact, @hpeprint.com sends an email response that the print job is delayed. So subsequently, when you turn on it will print at that time. While it was off, I sent an email to the printer and there was no response until I powered it up. After about a minute, the email printed. It also has the “sleep” mode (5 to 15 minutes). On the “touch screen”, touch Setup > preferences > sleep mode.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine goes into a "sleep" type mode while still connected to wifi. That way you could even send to the printers email remotely or sit on your couch and send from your phone at a moments notice
