I received exactly the same information as you. From what I can see, the information packet on the HP 7640 was compatible with my HP 7645. When I went to install the CD to set up the printer, it prompted me to use the latest update available instead of the CD. So I removed the CD and used the newest update, as recommended. It was smooth sailing from there on...no problems whatsoever. I hope this helps you.
