Yes, the HP ENVY 7640 works wonderfully well with my Macbook Pro, which is running OS X El Capitan. I've had no problems. I didn't have to do anything special, just followed the setup directions for Mac.

Technically yes--BUT none of the documentation that comes with the printer nor the help files on their website will help you to set it up to work with a Mac. It took me more than 6 hours to get it set up properly over two days--had to call HP customer service directly (you can get the direct dial number from the Geek Squad at Best Buy). Still, it is much more complicated to run that my previous Canon.
