64 bit hardware architecture. HP includes 16 GB (occupying one memory slot) when you buy the computer. There is another memory slot available inside the chassis that is empty. I purchased another 16 GB memory stick that met the specifications HP identified in their documentation for this computer and am now successfully running a 32 GB system. HP currently advertises that 32 GB is the maximum amount of RAM that this system is capable of using.
