The printer needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network to print, whether you're printing from anywhere or from home. Additionally, your printer needs to be connected to the network to avail yourself of the free or ongoing Instant Ink subscription and HP+ benefits. Without the internet, you can connect the printer directly to the PC with a USB cable and forgo the ink and HP+ benefits (including the free second year of product warranty).
