“I was told that I could fax with this machine with a HP person. I don't see how you can fax . I will have to return after all the problems of setting this up. three in one always means to me copy,fax, scan”

Three in one usually means printer, scanner, copier.

In order to fax it would need to have an ADF on the top of the printer like the Envy Photo 7855. You can use a service like eFax which allows you to fax through the internet without using a landline.
