I like the printer, but connecting for wireless printing is still a problem. There are a lot of programs that HP offers and the set up can seem lengthly and complicated. The INK program is great and I'd recommend signing up for it--a definite savings and convenience. You can find out about it at Best Buy or online. Once I figure out how to get it all working with the wireless connection, I'll be much happier. If you have an old HP printer cord, KEEP IT! I'm using my old one to connect my laptop until the wireless set up works. The cords go for $25, so save your old one if you can.

If you’ve owned an HP printer before, this Envy has all the features and functionality you’ve come to expect from HP printers. Pros: Easy to setup, multiple ways to connect to device (computer, tablet etc), HP e-print, easy to use, ink subscription service, quiet mode, prints on both sides. Cons: Paper tray capacity (photo tray sits on top of letter tray), small LCD screen (thankfully it’s not needed for many things), no fax, no card readers, no automatic paper feeder. Setup: I was pleasantly surprised how easy the HP Envy 6255 was to setup. I thought I would have to perform the setup steps utilizing the small screen on the printer. Instead, I plugged in the new printer, went to "123.hp.com", connect to the printer’s wifi, I then selected my wifi SSID. The printer picked up the wifi password seamlessly. Pop in the 2 ink cartridges, run through the rest of the setup and you’re off and running. HP has an ink subscription service that it offers. This is the first time I’ve come across this program, the inkjet printer I purchased approximately 4 years ago didn’t offer this. The prices seem reasonable, the plans are $2.99 for 50 pages a month, $4.99 for 100 pages a month or $9.99 for 300 pages a month. According to HP this can save you $132-$792 a year compared to purchasing ink as you normally would. Your printer would order the ink automatically. Seems like a convenient feature to have, no more rushing out at 8:00PM to buy ink for a school project due the next morning! Printing: There are numerous ways to connect and print from the Envy: USB cable (old school), wireless via wifi, AirPrint (Apple devices), HP app (Android and iOS) and ePrint (email unique HP email address assigned to your printer from anywhere). You can also connect directly to the printer via Wifi direct and print without a router. HP e-Print: I want to share a great way to use the ePrint feature as I’m a big fan of it. As you know, ePrint allows you to send print jobs to the printer wherever you are simply by emailing it to your unique HP printer e-mail address. I use this for my elderly parents who are not tech savvy at all…they basically just mastered using the microwave oven! A typical call from my mom is “something happened to my computer, it’s not working…I didn’t do anything”. So this feature allows me to print whatever they may need from the comfort of my home 20 miles away. Scan: I was pleasantly surprised on the scanning app, I was able to use the app to initiate the scanner and the image appeared on my phone! I could save the image to my phone and email it. From the printer LCD screen, you can also scan it to your computer. Print quality: Of course all the features and apps wouldn’t matter if the print quality wasn’t good. I tested the printer by printing a few photos onto the included sample HP Advanced photo paper. The results were very good. I compared this to 2 other printers I have in the house, 1 a dedicated photo printer made by a camera company with 8 separate color cartridges and the other an HP 8600 Premium inkjet. Of the 3 printers, the picture from the Envy came out the closet to the picture on my phone. The photo from other 2 printers were bad, it probably needed some tweaking, I normally print to the large photo printer using Lightroom and I don’t normally use the 8600 for photos. The HP app does not allow for exposure correction or color adjustments before printing, you would need to make your edits in another program before printing with HP Smart. I also printed out a few maps for hiking trails for an upcoming trip. The print is crisp and sharp, the map detailed, just like the PDF I printed from. Conclusion: Overall, I really like this printer. The print quality is excellent, if you are looking for a new printer, you should definitely look into the Envy 6255. There are some features missing as noted on the “Cons” list, but these may not be important to everyone. For this price, this printer offers a lot of features and performance in a relatively small footprint.

I like the functionality of this printer. Very easy install with a phone app. All my Windows 10 PC's found the printer easily. I was up and running in approx. 20 minutes. The first thing I Printed was a photo from Face Book. It printed a beautiful 8.5 X 11 borderless photo. I have yet to discover all the features, but the features I have used so far work well. The cartridges installed easily. HP also offers a 3 month free start up on the ink refill program up to 300 pages per month printing at no charge when you sign up. After that you will be billed according to the plan you choose, then pay for extra sheets printed if you go over your plan amount. I have used this program on my 5530 and currently have the $4.99 option for 100 pages per month. (It is a very wise program and works well)The touch screen size is a bit too small and monochrome. This printer is more bulkier than my other current HP Envy 5530 which has also been a very reliable printer. I do prefer the 5530 appearance more so, it is more appealing in appearance, however, the 6255 definitely out performs the 5530 in speed and quality. The 6255 Does not have an SD card slot which I used quite often on the 5530. (disappointing) The Copy and scan functions worked good and quite fast.

Very disappointed considering a lot of people put very high ratings on this printer. I wasted half of my ink on cleaning the print head and test photos that still came out terrible. I bought this printer for my wife and she tried printing photos but the colors were not coming out right at all no matter how many times we cleaned the print head. We looked up every way possible to fix the issue but nothing worked. We gave up on the photo printer and decided to use it for a regular printer instead but that didn’t work well either she tried printing out logos and the pink was coming out somewhat okay (can’t really tell in the photo) but any other color especially blue would not work at all. It kept having streaks. When she would clean the print head the tests would come out flawless but printing out images would not work.

      Hi, Alvarez.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has not performed like it should regarding print quality. I can understand why that would be a great disappointment, especially considering you bought the printer for your wife and did a lot of troubleshooting with no improvement. With that in mind, I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will help.

First, I recommend that if you haven’t done so already you follow the steps in this guide to improving print quality, including streaks, smears, faded colors, fuzzy text, and when black or color ink does not print properly:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05551181

If the problem persists, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can guide you through the proper troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

This printer has been one headache after another. My print jobs rarely connect, especially from my laptop, to the point where I end up emailing things to myself, so that I can print from my phone. The print jobs stop abruptly, leaving 2/3 of the page blank (see photo). Other times, the page is filled with streaks (see photo). Multi-page documents print with the last pages coming first. The printer jams frequently, especially if I try to print double-sided. Just today, the printer started printing something I had sent to it weeks ago. A total mess on software and hardware. Will be seeking to return it.

      Hi, Charles.

I’m sorry to hear your printer has caused such inconvenience. The workarounds you describe sound truly exasperating, as does the printer now printing a job you sent it weeks ago. With that in mind, I’ll offer some resources that I hope will help.

This printer does an excellent job of guiding you through the setup process with the HP Smart app. It gives videos for each step, and makes the whole process extremely simple. It also has a nice feature that allows you to have both regular paper and photo paper (4x6) in the tray at the same time, so you don't have to mess with switching, you can just select the tray you wish to print to. Very convenient. Colors looked accurate, and the printing was pretty fast. The ink cartridges do look fairly small. I'm curious to see how many prints I can get before they run out. Replacement cartridges seem to be about the going rate, and if you do a lot of printing, HP offers a subscription service that's pretty reasonable. Pros: Good color reproduction, fast printing, dual trays, easy setup Cons: Cartridge life may be a concern, but so far, all is well.

This printer was $50 off on sale so definitely worth trying as a replacement for a similar HP wireless printer that performed well and lasted about 4 years. This printer is fairly quick and quality is good for basic printing. The screen is black and white, and it can be a little challenging to work with due to the small size, for example, when changing settings on the copy function. I have not tried it with photos, but expect the quality to be sufficient for basic photo printing as well. Connecting it to home wireless was easy and only took a few minutes. I did the basic install and bypassed the Ink Ready feature. That feature might save money for some and I can see the advantage, but I personally prefer not to be tied into process like that so was happy with the install that enables you to opt out fairly easily. All in all, I like HP printing products in general and find this to be a very good printer at this price point. I would recommend it to those looking for good quality home printing and easy wireless setup.

I have always trusted HP printers. This one is good as well. Very easy to set up and get going. Just remember to get the printer hooked up to your wireless modem first. Then get the software from HP and install it. Like I said super easy to do. I really like the fact that I can put the printer any place in my home. You can also change the name of your printer through HP software. Also very easy to do. The only con that I have is the HP printer app on windows 10 is really basic. Works great with standard documents. but has no FIT TO PAGE setting. Can be a problem with odd shaped documents and pictures. But that is a problem with the software and not a printer issue! Like I said great printer.

Great wireless printer. I was going to take the time to figure out how to connect our hardwired laser printer to wireless and this item came on sale for less than the cost of the parts. There are only two downsides. It sometimes goes to sleep and you have to figure out to wake it up. It was supposed to come with photo editing software that HP no longer makes available for download. This irritated me. I do like the feature that you can make multiple scans and put them all in the same pdf. The scan quality is good and the scan software is easy to use. We have printed a few photos on some photo paper and they came out very high quality.

Got this to go with a laptop I purchased to help my son with his schoolwork. The $50.00 price tag definitely caught my eye, but after spending a few weeks with this product I can safely say that I wouldn't have objected to the original price of $150.00. I was hesitant to setup wireless printing in the past, but now I can't see how I went without it. Print quality is good--better than I need, for the most part--and the Instant Ink program has been very handy, saving me 2 trips to the store just this past week alone.

If you're looking for a basic printer and you don't have many large projects, this is a great entry level printer. It has all of the bells and whistles that make printing easy (wi-fi, print from cell, etc), and HP has made it easy to set it up on multiple computers. Downsides are it's not overly fast, nor will it provide high quality photos. But, if you can get it on sale for $50, it's a steal.

I've usually had bad luck with printers, but no issues with this one. It was easy to set up and get connected online. I've had no connectivity issues between my PC or Android phone. Printing quality has been great. Pictures print great. This printer can be used with HPs Instant Ink program and I signed up for that service. Since I don't print all that many pages, I have been on the free program and can print 15 pages per month at no cost and I will never have to pay for ink...genius.

Really good printer for the price we paid while on sale. Easy set up and the ability to print over WiFi is very easy to use. Once the app was installed on my iPhone it was easy to print from any app within the iPhone. I was also impressed with the printing on photo paper that came with the printer. It is a bit bulky, but that is to be expected with all in one printers. Definitely happy with the purchase and would recommend!

I don't use the printer for much outside of printing the occasional school assignment for my kids. But when we do use it, it works well. The printer software that HP recommends installing feels a bit heavier than it needs to be. I would recommend using the built in Windows 10 driver. I will note that the best part is not having to connect the printer to a computer to get it running. I've test printed from my computers and my phone. The printer has worked flawlessly on all accounts.
