• yes... you should be able to install as a plug & play, it should not be necessary to have to install using the install cd that came with your printer

• The question should be, is there a HP Deskjet F4200 printer driver compatible with my operating system. Go to HP.com, look up support for your printer, enter your operating system (IE: Win7 or Windows 8, etc) in the appropriate field and search for a suitable driver... if there is one listed, it should work. Download it and install.
