• Did you double check the port was the correct one. I don’t see why it wouldn’t go in.

• Thank you for the question. Your existing mouse with the USB Type-A dongle will work when inserted with the proper orientation. The port and the item that's being connected have a little plastic bar (called a "tang") inside the connector that ensures a proper fit. If your dongle doesn't fit one way, reverse it and it will plug in the other way.
