To answer your question properly, the RAM sticks are not soldered, so YOU CAN upgrade the RAM up to 32GB as per specification.

This laptop comes with a SSD drive which increases the speed of the device decreasing the need for additional RAM. Best Buy has a 14 day return policy so if you are completely satisfied with the speed you are able to exchange or return the laptop and upgrade to another model. Thank you for being an HP customer!
