I don't know how long it will last in terms of lifespan since I've only had mine about 6 months, but I can say that it would be difficult at best to replace it yourself without the proper equipment and experience. If you want a laptop you can replace the battery on, I suggest getting one designed with a removable battery, not one that needs to be pulled apart to get at it.
