• i looked at one today and we pressed a button to make the backlight come on

• Yes, it is backlit, but you have to turn it on/off by pressing a key. The key to press is on the top row above the 5/% key. It has 3 squares and f5 on it.

• It is backlit, but not very bright. Hard to see with all silver keys and little contrast between keys & numbers.
