I have been looking at both of these models as well.it appears when comparing the specs the main difference I can see besides the memory are the new 15m-es has a LCD screen, DDR4 and a Thundebolt 4 type C port and 3.1 usb type A ports. The 15m-Ed has a LED screen , DDR4 SDRAM and has no Thunderbolt port and 3.0 usb type A ports and a type C port. I used the compare for this

The 15M-es0023dx is a 2021 model, with dual B & O dual speakers and HP Audio Boost, privacy camera, 1 Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB4™ Type-C, 2 x USB 3.1 Type A ports. The 15m-ed1023dx is a 2020 model with three B & O speakers, and HP Audio Boost, 2 x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, and 1 x USB 3.0 Type C port.
