Only when you have 20% of ink left. I didn’t use that much in 27 months and paid 3.27 a month which was 88.29 and still had ink. Be careful

It doesn't matter which plan you purchase, HP will send you new ink carts long before you actually run out of ink. HP monitors how many pages you print and how much ink you have left, via your online connection. You will save the new cart until your printer tells you you're out of ink, then you will replace it. HP will know when you replaced it.

Because the Instant Ink program is based on the number of pages you print (100 page a month on the $5 plan), how often you get ink will depend on exactly what you're printing. If you do a lot of 8x10 photos, you're going to get ink more often than if you just print text.
