Instant Ink is an HP program to get ink or toner to you, less expensivly and more conveniently than getting it in the store. You sign up and you pay a monthly fee based on how much you're going to print (with this computer, you won't be charged until the six month free trial is over). When the printer gets low on ink or toner, the printer lets HP know and we ship you a replacement before you run out at no additional cost.

Follow the directions included. You get a cartridge in the box to start. And it prints at least 100 pages+. I did the whole free ink thing on my iPad right after set up and it arrived a few days later.
