Yes it is. I have my LaserJet M234sdw in the next room from my laptop -- a distance of about 12 feet. I don't know what a good maximum distance, but you can probably gat that information from Best Buy or HP customer service. It's also in the printed guide that came with the printer, but am unable to find it now.
