Thank you for the question. The LaserJet Pro 4301fdw has an automatic document feeder. You'd only need to raise the scan bed cover to scan a single page from the scan bed, or clear a jam in the document feeder. The approximate height of the printer with the scan bed cover opened would be 28.1 inches (the printer's depth measurement of 15.4 inches and the height measurement with the cover closed- 12.7 inches).
