• This printer already comes with two input trays. Tray 1 pulls down from the front and is typically used for items like envelopes and other sizes than what you have in Tray 2. In my printer Tray 2 is where we load letter paper, and when we want to print something other than plain paper, that's where tray one is very handy

• Yes, you can get a second tray for this printer. It's HP part D9P29A . You can the single tray fit _either_ letter or legal at any one time, but you can't mix the paper sizes.
